Summer Conference is held at our Church in Salem Oregon. Set up high on a hill our Church grounds known as Macleay Christian Retreat, encompasses 30 acres of land that has been put to very good use.
Every year for 10 glorious days we gather for a special time of fellowship and fun. Where the emphasis is placed on making it a blessing for the children and the young people, with many activities and games planned throughout the day, like swimming, volleyball, soccer and face painting, cookie making etc.
In the evenings we gather to hear God's word, where we are reminded of our high and holy calling in the Church and why God has given us a place like Macleay.
What spoke to me was the Church is Jesus most precious possession. It belongs to Him and He has bought it at the price of His life. He is zealous for His Church and we belong to Christ and His Church only when we ourselves live a crucified life just as He did while here on earth.
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
"He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his mouth."
When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. 1 Peter 2:21-25
