Oregon has an amazing Salmon fishery just waiting for those who are brave enough to handle the 6 foot Pacific Ocean swells. Thanks to Larry Roth and his experties behind the helm of the boat, we had a blast fishing for Coho's out of Depoe bay.

We seemed to effortlessly catch around 10 Salmon before the sun set. The fish run between 8 and 12lbs and put up a battle right until the end.

Seaside Escape

The family and I had a relaxing weekend by the sea. There is just something about the Ocean that awakens in one a sense of awe. This immense body of water deeper than the highest mountain and as wide as the whole earth. It makes me want to praise God for his greatness and majesty. What am I but a speck of dust and yet He cares for me so much he has numbered each hair on my head. Matthew 10:30

I will remember the deeds of the LORD;
yes, I will remember your wonders of old.
I will ponder all your work,
and meditate on your mighty deeds.
Your way, O God, is holy.
What god is great like our God?
You are the God who works wonders;
you have made known your might among the peoples.
You with your arm redeemed your people,
the children of Jacob and Joseph. Selah

When the waters saw you, O God,
when the waters saw you, they were afraid;
indeed, the deep trembled.
The clouds poured out water;
the skies(AB) gave forth thunder;
your arrows flashed on every side.
The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind;
your lightnings lighted up the world;
the earth trembled and shook.
Your way was through the sea,
your path through the great waters;
yet your footprints were unseen.
You led your people like a flock
by the hand of Moses and Aaron.Psalm 77

Oregon Coast

We found a beautiful stretch of coastline nearly void of any other person. Where the Ocean converges with one of Oregon's many rivers, it was a perfect mix for swimming.

Situated in proximity to Cape Perpetua a 2,700-acre rain forest that boasts twice the botanical mass, per square acre, than the Amazon jungle. Where you can observe old growth forests and a multitude of wild game such as Elk and deer. Hiking trails lead down to ancient lava deposit on the shore.

Yaquina Head Lighthouse stands today, little changed from the way it has appeared since 1873-the same classic tower; the same classic lens. It is Oregon's second oldest lighthouse and its tallest.

Shores Acers Botanical Garden

"Perched on a scenic bluff above the Pacific Ocean, Shore Acres began as a private estate with luxurious gardens featuring trees, shrubs, and flowering plants brought from around the world aboard the sailing ships of pioneer lumberman and shipbuilder Louis J. Simpson.
Simpson developed the summer home into a showplace three-story mansion complete with a heated, indoor swimming pool and a large ballroom. The grounds contained five acres of formal gardens, including a Japanese-style garden built around a 100-foot lily pond.
When fire destroyed the mansion in 1921, Simpson began to build an even larger replacement - two stories high and 224 feet long. However, financial losses in the 1930s caused both house and grounds to fall into disrepair. In 1942, Simpson's beloved Shore Acres was purchased by the state of Oregon for use as a public park."
